Let’s meet the Infant Team

Hello Infant Families,
This newsletter is an introduction of the staff for the Infant room. Every month a newsletter will be available with the latest classroom happenings.

The Staff
My name is Sherie Newman and I am the Master Teacher for the Infant room. You may see me pop in and out of the room throughout the week. My main responsibility is to support and mentor the three interns that are completing HDFS 490. I have been at the center for 18 years, serving in different positions and classrooms. I live on a our family farm in the small town of Shabbona with my husband David and oldest son Donovan. My youngest son is a Private in the Army and is currently in California training at the National Combat Training facility. For fun I spend time in my vegetable and flower gardens and quilt. When I am not doing either of those things, I like to watch home improvement shows and read.

My name is Audrey Ledermann. I graduated from NIU with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies: Child Development. I have been employed at the CDFC for 1.5 years in various positions and was recently hired in the role of Child Development Supervisor. I live in Sycamore with my partner, Brandon.

Hello, I am Kellie Fuss one of the Infant 1 Child Development Supervisors here at NIU CDFC. This is the 22nd academic year for the center and me. I began here in 2000 in the Infant room. My preferred age group is infant and toddlers, however, I have experience with infants through school age.  I hold a BA in Child and Family Studies and Level 5 ECE Credential along with a level 4 Infant/Toddler Credential.

My family Kevin, husband and son, Joe live here in DeKalb. Joe is an alum of NIU CDFC and now a Junior at Marmion Academy. We enjoy spending time doing activities and volunteering together for Boy Scouts, Marmion Academy, St. Mary Church, and other local community agencies.

I look forward to working with and getting to know all the families here in the Infant room.

Since the infant room is a practicum room, we will have three interns, Alyssa, Gloria and Sam. They will build positive relationships with the children and you, as well as create and implement appropriate activities. I hope you have a chance to get to know them. The interns will have specific assignments to complete with some of the children. It is important to have your child here everyday of their schedule.

We have several student workers in the Infant room throughout the semester. Some of experience working at the CDFC, while others are new, but still have some experience with Infants.

We are all looking forward to getting to know you and your child. This is going to be a great semester.

Well wishes,
Infant Team
