Hello Toddler 2 Families,
This month has been so much fun! We are coming to the end of the semester. Thanks to our families for coming to parent teacher conferences this month. We really appreciate it! Over the past few weeks, we have really enjoyed watching your children blossom. We also had a couple of birthdays this month. Happy Birthday to our friends Anya, Asa, Noah, Sophia, and Aziz. Our focus this month has been in these areas: Social Emotional, Fine Motor, Literacy, Music and Movement.
Social Emotional
This month we have started to talk about feelings! This is so important because having social emotional skills helps the children to build healthy relationships and lets the children properly express their feelings. We read books and played music about emotions. A big activity this month was If Your Happy and You Know it and If You’re Happy!

Fine Motor
We focused on fine motor activities! We did activities to allow the children to work on improving their hand eye coordination. We did activities that will help the children to perform different tasks like reaching, grasping, and moving objects. We did a couple of different activities such as ripping tape and taping tape on our paper. We also did stickers, painting with toothbrushes and painting with Q-tips. We also focused on assisting them in writing and drawing. For example, we drew with markers, put pipe cleaners into a colander, drew with oil pastels, drew with crayons, and did finger painting on bubble wrap.

Literacy
We have continued to read the same books over and over to the children. We have also done two friend song books for group times this month! The children were able to look at the book and the faces of their friends while singing. When they were looking at each page, they got excited to point to their faces then point to their friends’ faces. We got to talk about what friends they saw and continued to sing the song from the books we created.

Music and Movement
We also focused on action and movement songs. It benefits the children because it enhances language, vocabulary, and motor skills. This helps the children with listening skills and the ability to follow directions. For example, we listened to The Airplane Song by Laurie Berkner, Animal Action by Greg Scelsa and Steve Millang, and The Freeze by Greg Scelsa and Steve Millang. These are some of the classroom’s favorite songs!
We hope you have a healthy and happy holiday, and we will see you next year!
Thank you,
Eisa, Pam, Giana, Karla and our Toddler-2 Staff
