Welcome back! We are so excited to be back with all of our friends! To start off the new year, we are introducing our fairy tale unit. Many of our friends have shown interest in fairy tales through some of the books in our library and our Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel story problem solving kits. So far, we have introduced The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man. We have read different variations of these two stories to the children. We encouraged the children to use their prediction, comprehension, and inferencing skills to answer open ended questions about the stories. The children also had an opportunity to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the variations of books. As the semester proceeds, we will continue to introduce fairy tales. We are excited to watch your child learn, grow, and unleash their imagination throughout this unit!
A friendly reminder to be aware of the weather during these next couple months and to please send your child with proper outdoor attire for the snow and cold! Your child should have snow pants, waterproof boots, coat, hat, and gloves. Our outdoor times have changed due to the cold and snow. Instead of going out from 10:00am-10:30am on the main playground and 3:00pm-3:30pm on the Gabel playground, we will now be going out the the main playground from 10:00am-11:00am combined with Pre-2. This means that for the time being, pick up will now be in our classroom instead of at the Gabel playground. When the weather warms up this is tentative to change and we will make you aware, but for now pick up will be inside our classroom. We are permitted to go outside when it is 15 degrees (for a short period of time) and above. We do our best to get outside if the weather is permitted so please send your child prepared!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us!
Your Pre-1 Team,
Jen, Nadine, and Abby
