2’s/3’s 2 April Newsletter

Wow has this year flown by! We are officially in the home stretch of the semester. We have really enjoyed getting to know you and your children this year and it is hard to believe that they will be moving up to a preschool classroom. We wanted to thank all of you for your time in meeting with us for conferences. We really enjoyed our time talking with you about how amazing your child is.

Science

During the Week of the Young Child, we planted flower seeds and have enjoyed watching them grow. Because of this, the children have taken an interest in plants and planting which prompted us to create a plant science area and flower shop in our dramatic play area. The children will have opportunities to look at flower seeds, read books, help water and care for the plants, examine different types of plants, and sell and garden plants.

Outdoor Play

We have enjoyed our time outside and some of the warm weather we have experiencing. The children have worked on their large muscle skills by climbing, riding bikes and scooters, throwing and catching, kicking, digging in the sandbox, and more. In the next few weeks, we plan on bringing more large muscle activities outside like target throwing, digging in the garden, parachute play, balancing skills, more catching and throwing activities etc.

Literacy

The children have taken an interest in Curious George books. Recently we read the book Curious George Makes Pancakes and we made pancakes using the recipe at the end of the book. The vote was unanimous, all the children liked the pancakes! We look forward to reading more about George’s adventures.
