Hello families!
We are excited to be back at the center after winter break! Our classroom has welcomed some new faces to the classroom, both children and teachers. During our few weeks together in January, we have done a lot with our classroom. We’ve been doing a lot of art activities, plenty of sensory experiences, and reading lots of new interactive stories. Emotions are big focus in our classroom right now. We have been talking about how to communicate with each other, and how green and red choices can affect the choices we make can affect ourselves and others. It has been a fun start to our semester!
Art and Sensory
In the short few weeks we have been at school, we have introduced various sensory experiences for the children. They have helped make playdough, we have added water to our media table, on cold days we have brought snow inside, and Melissa even made a light table with her dad for the children to enjoy! The children have been very engaged in art that we do as well. From paint, to glue, to crayons and markers, the children have spent a lot of time expressing themselves!

Gross Motor Play
Our classroom is very active! Often times, we have numerous dance parties in the classroom in a day. We are very fortunate to be able to use the Large Motor Room this semester. The 20 minutes we have in there can really help the children! They have begun trying new activities in the Large Motor Room, including catching and throwing, bouncing on balls, balancing on stepping stones, and building ramps for balls to roll down.

Dramatic Play
The children’s growth in dramatic play has really blossomed. Our current dramatic play is a beach. Sunscreen has been applied numerous times, sunglasses are worn, and the children go swimming in the ‘ocean’ multiple times a day. Just recently, they grabbed chairs and set them on top of what we use as our ‘water.’ They then expressed that they were on a ship and how there were sharks in the water.
Reminders:
- Please bring warm clothes for your children while we play outside every day, weather depending.
- March 6, 7, 20, and 21st Hearing and Vision Screening will be available for all children 2.8 years and older.
- March 23rd: Story Time Night, more details to come!
Looking forward to a fun February!
Melissa and Krysten
