February News Infant 1

Happy Spring Semester Infant 1 Families!

We are marching right through the semester. In February we were limited to the time spent outside and some days we could not go out at all because it was to cold. We are anxiously awaiting to welcoming in the month of March for spring to spend more time outside.

February activities included painting, painting and more painting!  The children painted with cars, on foil and a variety of types of tools to paint with.  Sensory activities included Snow, Water, and Foam.  New material in the classroom has captured the children’s interests.  The school buses, animals, soft blocks, the new foods and the bigger dolls.  This classroom loves their books and when they notice new books on the shelf we have to read the book two or three times before moving on to the next book. The children loved it!  This attention to the books certainly ignited a love for our library!

Small group and Group-time takes place throughout the day and helps with our transitions.  The children can attend to these activities for longer periods of time now.   These group time activities

include short stories as in brown bear brown bear what do you see, songs with props, flannel board stories like five little ducks and more. The children are really developing relationships with classmates, big hellos and goodbyes to friends, children walk over to the gate when someone is coming in and even helped each other transition into the classroom.  The social skills are coming right along.

March will bring us many changes in the weather and with the children. Our focus for March will focus on Social Emotional Development for our infants/toddlers as they are full of very big feelings and currently don’t have the words to share these feelings! We will continue to work on giving words to the children. As well as sign language to continue their language development.
