January Newsletter 2’s/3’s 2

Introduction

Welcome back 2’s/3’s 2 families! We are excited to start the spring semester with you and your child. This semester the majority of our class will be turning three. It has been amazing to watch your child grow and develop. It is hard to believe that they will be moving to a preschool classroom in the summer/fall. Kat and I will be working on a variety of skills this semester to help prepare them for their new adventure.

Sensory/Science

Kat and I are planning a variety of sensory and science activities because the children have been showing a lot of interest in this area. Here are a few activities we have done with your child:

  • Slime using liquid starch, food color and glue
  • Elephant toothpaste-Hydrogen peroxide, dry yeast, warm water, dish soap and food color
  • Rainbow rain experiment- water, shaving cream and food color
  • Lemon volcanos-Lemons, baking soda, vinegar and food color
  • Magic milk explosions-milk, dish soap and food color
  • Oobleck-corn starch and water

Self-Help Skills

This next month we will work on self-help skills and following directions. For example, to help the children get dressed to go outside, we will provide a visual as a guide to help them remember the proper steps. We will also provide visuals in the bathroom to help guide them through the steps of going to the bathroom on their own. These are skills you can help them with and encourage them to complete at home as well!

Example of steps:

  1. Snow pants
  2. Boots
  3. Coat
  4. Hat
  5. Scarf
  6. Mittens

Thank you for all of your support, it is appreciated! We look forward to a great spring semester!
