Hello Families,

We have made it through our August and September weeks in 2/3-2 with flying colors! It has been a very busy time as the children become acclimated to the new room, new teachers and student workers.
Social Emotional Development

Our consistent daily schedule has allowed the children to feel safe because they know what is going to happen next. The pattern of our daily routines help keep order, washing hands before meals and after bathrooms, placing dishes in the bin, cleaning up toys while singing the clean up song and giving the children “first and then” statements have been extremely helpful in all transitions. Relationship are being built between the teachers and the children but the greatest relationships being built are the friendships between the children. They are holding hands with each other while walking to the playground, greeting each other and sitting next to a friend at the table.

Art and Sensory
Painting, painting and more painting almost every day! In addition to the activities that we provide for the children they also have access to paper, markers, crayons, stickers and were even given the opportunity to learn to use glue sticks. The sensory table has been open in the classroom with water and with kinetic sand too. Playdough has been another sensory activity provided as well.
Fine Motor and Gross Motor

Manipulative activities available every day include magna tiles, block building, puzzles and pop beads. These activities develop fine motor muscles just like the gross motor opportunities build the large muscles for running, jumping and balancing. It has been so fun to watch the problem solving that takes place during the play for example: pulling the magna tiles apart laying them out or building with blocks so tall that it tips over, the children repeating the task over and over.
Reminders
- Fall weather means cool morning and warm afternoons, dressing your child in layers is helpful and bring a light coat or sweatshirt.
- Before you know it we will need winter gear including coats, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots! Please label all items with your child’s initials.
- Parent Teacher conferences will begin next month, we will have a sign up sheet available as the conferences date gets closer.
Thank you for the great start to the semester!
We love getting to know you and your child!
