Pre 1 October Newsletter

Hello Pre-1 Families!

Can you believe that October is already coming to an end? This year is flying by!! During October we finished up our first six weeks study and started the tree study! The children seem to be really enjoying this study so far! We started with discussing the various parts of trees and what they do for the trees. We went on a walk to look at trees around our building and each child got to take a notebook and were encouraged to draw pictures of what they were seeing. We also had the children work together in pairs to create 3-D trees. They did a wonderful job using their creativity together to create a unique looking tree with their friends. We have also discussed the various foods we know of that grow from trees. The children were able to name a ton of foods from trees! We also discussed the different animals that live in trees and what they build in trees. We will be continuing on with the tree study for a few more weeks! Make sure you to check out the various documentations we are putting up in the hallway and on top of the cubbies. It is also very helpful to chat with your child at the end of the day about what they learned about during their school day.

We also had our second parent connection snack! We attempted to make applesauce and enjoyed some cider. It is so wonderful for you all to be taking time out to come and have a snack with your children! The kids really enjoyed that time with you all and the fun snacks we have been having. We plan to continue the snacks and have one every month.

This month we have also welcomed back our teacher Jen! If you all remember, Jen had been spending the first 8 weeks of the semester student teaching to complete her master’s in early childhood education. Well…she did it!!! Jen will be graduating this December with her master’s! Also, a reminder, Sam is nearing the end of her pregnancy! Her due date was moved up to October 31st! She will be induced the morning of the 31st, so her last day with us will be October 30th! We will miss her as she is home taking care of her new baby girl Brooke. Sam will come to visit us and should be back to work the first week of February.

One last thing we wanted to remind you all of, the weather! As you all already know, as a part of our curriculum, we go outside as much as we can! Outdoor time is so important for children to learn and grow, and they love it! We go outside between the real feel temperatures of 15 and 90 degrees. When it is between the real feel of 10-15 and 90-95 degrees, we are outside for a limited amount of time. Please make sure that your child has appropriate winter wear at the center to be used as we will be going outside. This means, snowpants, snow boots, winter coat, hat, and waterproof gloves. If you need resources to assist in accessing any of these materials, please reach out to De Austin to help you out. During the snowy months, we change our schedule to have the children outside for an hour to accommodate for the winter wear. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us or our administration
