Pre-4 March Newsletter

Hello Families!

March has been a crazy month, not only for our class but for our whole center! However, we are happy that we were still able to be with the children before and during spring break. So many things happened in our classroom during the first three weeks of March. The children have shown an increasing interest in learning Spanish. We started with the colors using songs from YouTube. One of the children’s favorite is Colores, Colores by Calico Spanish Learning. The children are now able to name most of the colors in Spanish

We are working on the numbers, fruits and vegetables next. We have also added books in Spanish to our library. One of their favorites is Buenas Noches Luna: Good night Moon.  They have also shown an interest in Chinese and Russian. They enjoy listening to well-known songs such as, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Happy Birthday in Chinese and Russian.

Willy Wonka

During Spring Break our classroom got the opportunity to go see the Willy Wonka play at the O’Connell Theater here on campus. In preparation for going to see the play we talked to the children about what a play was and what they should expect. The children had a great time at the play and hope to see other plays in the near future.

Center Closure

Having the center close is a rough transition that we are all experiencing. During the last week of school we found a resource that helps explain what is going on with COVID-19 in a way that children will understand. It is available in two different formats: a book and video. Here is the link to Why I Can’t Go to School. We will email you the word document if you wish to print it out. We want you and the children to know that we miss you so much!
