Let the social distancing begin!!

The spread of the covid-19 virus has put us all in an unusual situation. Did you ever think, “Someday, I am going to be required to not leave my home for long periods of time. I am so ready for this!”  Neither did I!!

As I busy myself with supporting my own children’s learning here at home, (and completing tasks I am usually to busy to do), I find myself wondering… how can I still support you and connect with the children and families of pre-5.

Parent resources; In this section are a few resources for parents of children under the age of 5.

  1. Being the best you!  Even though we are exercising social distancing, we can still be the best we can be.
  2. Tips for families of young children from zero-three
  3. Talking to our children about covid-19
  4. Healthy at Home; A Toolkit Supporting Famililies Impacted by COVID_19

Pause your day and do an “I Love You” ritual with them

Sit with your child for a minute before you play this song. It will be meaningful if you do this with them. Put your hands over your heart, take a deep breath, and then say, “We wish you well”. We don’t want anyone to feel sick, sad, or lonely. Then sing, We wish you well. We wish you well. All through the day today, we wish you well. Here is the full song; it is new to our children, but we want to make sure they know we wish them well! This can help us all stay connected.

When your child says, “I’M BORED!!!!” here are some possible things to do at home…

  1. Mo Willem’s Doodles
  2. Here are some songs the children have LOVED to move their bodies to…
    1.  Pop See Ko
    2.  Che Che Kule
    3.  Up, Down, Left, Right
    4.  Listen and Move
  3. Stories to listen to
    1.  Mortimer
    2.  Wonky Donkey
  4. Science experiments with household ingredients
    1. Magic Milk Experiment
    2. Dancing Raisins

I promise more to come from Bri and myself. We love and miss all of our families and children. We wish you well!
