2’s/3’s 2 November News

We cannot believe that the end of the semester is quickly approaching! We wanted to thank everyone for attending parent/teacher conferences, it was great to have the opportunity to talk with all of you about your children! We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Imaginary/Dramatic Play

We have noticed that the children have shown a great interest in our dramatic play area. We have noticed that they are becoming more imaginative in their play. They have shown interest in outer space and astronauts as well as fire departments and firemen and women. We are creating areas based on their interests to bring more of their learning out. During our play, we do a lot of role playing and the dramatic play center as a whole helps them build their language skills. It also helps with their turn taking as they are learning to wait their turn to get into the center and to use the equipment provided.

Safety Practice

We have monthly fire and tornado drills that we have to practice. During this time we have noticed that some of the children become very anxious and worried at the sounds and sights of the the alarms. We have created social stories to describe what these alarms do and sound like. This then prompted us to practice where we would need to go for our safe spots.

Social Stories

We have been reading several social stories to help the children build their social-emotional skills. Some of the topics of these social stories include gentle touches and keeping your hands to yourself, accepting the word no, being kind to others, sharing, and no biting. If you are interested in a copy  in any of these social stories, please let us know and we will make you one for home!

Food Collection

We will be collecting cans of food to donate to the food pantry on campus. We will be collecting these cans of food until December 8, 2021 and if you would like to donate we would greatly appreciate it. There will be a box located outside our classroom where these items can be placed.
